After 4.5 incredible years, Matt and I have made the difficult decision to close Piper and Dune®’s brick-and-mortar store. This choice wasn’t easy and it came after much reflection. We carefully considered both the personal demands in our lives and the future of the business. Ultimately, we realized that closing the storefront—and perhaps focusing on Piper and Dune®’s exclusive designs online—is the best path forward for us.
We are so proud of everything we have built together—from our first pop-ups and website to creating a warm, welcoming shop in Southbury. We stayed true to our mission: supporting small makers, offering thoughtfully curated gifts, and creating a space where people could discover unique, artisan designs as well as famous brands that sparked inspiration. Piper and Dune® was more than a shop—it became a place for connection, bringing together neighbors, artisans, and customers through community events, local collaborations, and shared experiences. However, like so many small businesses, we’ve faced rising costs, changing shopping habits, and increasing competition. Outside of the holiday rush, foot traffic has dwindled, and in a high-cost state like Connecticut, keeping the store open year-round is no longer sustainable for us.
While this marks the end of one chapter, it’s not the end of Piper and Dune®. Our website, PiperandDune.com, will remain active. Over the coming weeks, we’ll focus on clearing out our inventory with a **50% off sale starting now**. Once our current stock is sold, we’ll take some time to transition to a new featured collection of Piper and Dune® exclusive designs—original, timeless pieces you won’t find anywhere else.
We’d love your support one last time. Shop our biggest thank-you sale ever and spread the word—it means so much to us. What I will miss the most is the people:

- To our online community—your encouragement from afar has fueled us every step of the way.
- To our vendors and sales reps—thank you for helping us bring beautiful, meaningful goods to our shelves.
- And to all of you—you turned Piper and Dune® into more than a shop. You made it a community.

- Gift cards remain valid—but, please use them soon, they are good online or in-store!
- We will close the store no later than Friday, May 23, we’re hoping to empty the store prior to that date.
- Store fixtures, furnishings, mannequins, hangers, displays, packaging, and other furnishings are available for sale starting May 27 the week after Memorial Day- specific hours only, details will follow.
