Looking for a new Easter tradition? Combine your egg hunt with a spring scavenger hunt the whole family will love!
My husband grew up going to his Aunt Karen and Uncle Chuck’s house each Easter for their annual scavenger hunt. Even if you couldn’t stay for the big family feast, you were expected to join the hunt. It was always a blast—for adults and kids alike. There were Nerf football-sized eggs and gigantic golden eggs stuffed with lottery tickets, cash, and prizes.
The competition was fierce, the laughs were plenty, and the search brought you to all areas through their beautiful Connecticut yard. I hope Aunt Karen and Uncle Chuck know just how special those memories are—not only for my husband and his siblings, but for our own kids, too.
Aunt Karen would set a bowl of jelly beans on the patio table, tuck toys and trinkets into the flower beds, and hand out long scavenger lists—often with 30+ items that kept the hunt going for a while. Upon arrival, everyone grabbed a bag and their list and waited for the go-ahead to run. I’ll never forget watching my son Patrick and his cousin Mel climbing a tree, wrestling over the golden egg perched high on a branch. It was pure joy.
