Our boldest roast, named for their friend Ben Tuff, whose exploits are legendary (and who often needs a stout cup of strong roast — as do many others! So many people asked about getting dark roast that it became clear what was needed was a bold blend that would work in a moka or espresso machine, and of superior quality, so that Chemex users and the rest of us burning through Bonavitas and whatever would be satisfied. Your standard ink-black espresso would not fit the bill. So after months of tinkering with different beans and roast times, and with Ben gamely chugging various brews, we’ve settled on a blend of high-grown quality Organic beans that together attain a kind of mellow splendor, hedonistic and generous, like Belgian chocolate. Another analogy would be dark Toblerone.
$1 of every purchase helps support clean ocean access in Rhode Island, which works to ensure access to a clean ocean and shoreline, and to spread awareness of the need for action to protect the environment.
About Zero Prophet Coffee
Zero Prophet Coffee is a micro-roaster in Washington CT. Their mission is to elevate your experience of coffee to the highest level, and keep it there. They find the best coffees available and experiment until they've found the optimum roast for each bean. They believe in variety and regularly experiment with new beans, by choice and out of necessity because of harvest cycles. Roasting to order in small batches ensures that we provide an exceptional, fresh product that reflects our passion for coffee.
All the coffee is certified organic, and much of it is also fair-trade, rain-forest, bird-friendly, or otherwise certified to be ethically farmed and sold to support the communities that bring you the best coffee possible. In addition to Vienna coffee-house style, they're influenced by copious espresso drinking in Italy, and by such stateside standards as Peet's.
What about the name, Zero Prophet Coffee? What does it mean? In part, it means that they don’t prioritize the profit motive, though they aren't hardly averse to it (they need to sustain their business). It means that they believe in donating to good causes. And it reflects our core belief that creativity transcends practical constraints. The constant need to re-create the good gives our life meaning; a daily errand, coffee roasting, embodies an ideal.
