My dad could be a quiet recluse, but also the life of the party—a magnetic presence who could light up a room with his infectious energy and irrepressible spirit. Whether he was cracking jokes or sharing stories, he had a knack for making everyone feel welcome and included.
Amidst his larger-than-life persona, my dad also had a tender side—a softness and warmth that endeared him to those lucky enough to know him well. He could surprise you by making you feel seen and understood (when you didn’t expect that reaction), offering a listening ear and words of wisdom when you needed them most.
Remembering my dad is easy, even after all these years. He played Monopoly to win! Sunday nights were frequently family game nights. He was competitive (I guess that’s where I got it…) He loved playing golf as often as he could. He played softball too—and socializing with the guys after games made him happy, but he loved his family most of all. He may have been headstrong at times, but his ability to bring light and laughter into our lives will forever be his enduring legacy. We both shared a love for business, and I know he’s right near my side encouraging me with Piper and Dune® every step of the way. I feel his presence all the time. Someday, I’ll tell you the many stories about the coins (quarters—not pennies) that have fallen out of the sky directed at me, which I know he’s sending me, lol! It’s good to pause and remember all the little things…
